Peggy J. Ellis

Peggy J. Ellis has more than 25 years of experience as a senior strategist and manager in the public and private sectors, in politics, communications and the national public policy arena in Washington, D.C. Prior to establishing Ellis & Company, Ellis held many high-profile positions including serving as the director of congressional and public affairs at the Republican National Committee (RNC) during the 1998 election cycle. In that capacity, she served as the RNC’s liaison with Congress, the nation’s Republican governors, Washington’s business community and public policy organizations.

She served in a similar capacity at the Cato Institute, one of Washington’s leading public policy research organizations. As director of government affairs at Cato, Ellis developed strategies to inform and implement a wide variety of public policy issues. Specific areas of expertise include Social Security, budget and tax issues, campaign finance reform, education and government reform, among others. Ellis also has a notable business background. Before entering the public policy arena, she spent 10 years working in various management positions for Federated Department Stores, the United Way, as a management consultant and as controller for the Council on Foundations.

Peggy Ellis, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, has a Masters degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Beloit College in Wisconsin.
