Lee Miller, Immediate Past President

Lee Miller is a lawyer and consultant, whose expertise combines the disciplines of law, public administration, disabilities and communications. As President of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Fund, Inc., Lee has traveled to the Lady Cox Rehabilitation Centre in Stepanakert, Nagorno Karabakh, with Baroness Caroline Cox, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, and has been instrumental in helping to raise funds and provide needed supplies for the Centre.

Lee worked internationally for the United Nations and the Republic of Poland as a consultant on public administration reform and program development. She has served on the Executive Board of the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, participated in the National Policy Forum - Long Term Care Council, Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities, National Transition Summit of the Presidential Task Force, OSERS/RSA Think Tank on the Ticket to Work and Workforce Investment Act, the Department of Medical Assistance Long Term Care Services Package Work Plan, Board of Directors of the Arc of the U.S., and the Georgia Department of Human Resources’ Task Force on Functions of Community Service Boards.

In 1997, Lee initiated Georgia High School/High Tech, a transition program designed to provide students with disabilities with the skills and competencies to enable them to pursue careers in technological fields. Lee has provided technical assistance on youth programs to the U. S. Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy, served on the Presidential Transition U.S. Department of Labor Advisory Committee and the President’s Council on the 21st Century Workforce Skills Gap Committee.

Lee is a noted international speaker and has appeared on the Today Show and C-Span. She is co-chair of the National Rehabilitation Association International Outreach Task Force, a member of the World Committee on Disability, Judge for the United Nations/Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute/World Committee on Disability International Award, Special Counsel on Disabilities to FEMA’s Region IV Advisory Council on Emergency Preparedness, on the Executive Board of the National Association of Governors’ Committees on Employment of People with Disabilities, and a consultant on youth programs with the Georgia Department of Labor.

Among her numerous awards are two annual commendations from the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities for Distinguished Contributions toward the Full Employment of People with Disabilities.
